Winter Garden

Cold frosty mornings, wet ground, bare branches and muddy dogs are what my garden is about in winter. I haven’t achieved very much, being happier in the cosy house observing my drippy sad garden through the windows. The dogs come in with wet feet after running through the long grass.

Frost has wilted many plants and their droopy leaves, left to protect the remaining undamaged parts, look very sad.

One positive thing is the slow growth of weeds,

so my neglect has less impact on the garden at this time of year. Also the light on raindrops hanging on all the bare branches is spectacular when the sun does come out.

When I do walk around the garden I discover hordes of violets, purple, white and even some pink ones. Bulbs are also beginning to show their faces- Jonquils, snowdrops and varieties of daffodils.
